Forty-five-year-old Royals left-handed starter Rich Hill took the loss. He surrendered four runs and six walks in his first start at Kauffman Stadium since 2021. He also allowed two of the Braves’ three homers in his four innings of work.

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez was hit by a pitch in the left elbow and taken out of Monday night’s against the Atlanta Braves. Perez was hit in the third inning by a 94 mph fastball from Spencer Strider.

After dropping five straight games, the Braves stopped the bleeding on Monday night with a 10-run outburst in their series opener versus the Kansas City Royals.
