President Donald Trump signed executive actions on Wednesday imposing a 50% tariff on Brazil, a 50% tariff on certain copper products and suspending a tax perk for all countries that allowed cheap packages to fly into the US duty-free.

President Donald Trump raised total tariffs on Brazilian exports to 50%, delivering on his promise to retaliate against Latin America’s largest economy for what he’s described as attacks on free speech and a “witch hunt” against former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The White House cited national security concerns for its tariff on copper, and Trump asked for restrictions on the export of copper scrap.
