Home Depot said it doesn’t plan to raise prices because of President Donald Trump’s tariffs, breaking with Walmart and other retailers that will pass costs related to the trade war onto consumers.
The home improvement chain broke from many other retailers, who say they cannot afford to absorb new tariffs. President Trump recently attacked Walmart for warning of price hikes.
Home Depot said on Tuesday it will keep prices unchanged despite U.S. tariffsthat might however make some products unavailable at the home-improvement chain, which also reported that first-quarter sales beat estimates.
Home Depot doesn’t expect to raise prices because of tariffs, saying it has spent years diversifying the sources for the goods on its shelves.
