President Donald Trump said Tuesday the United States has reached a trade agreement with Indonesia after speaking with the country’s President Prabowo Subianto.
The Southeast Asian nation was facing a 32% tariff on goods exported to the US, which has now been reduced to 19%.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has hailed a "new era of mutual benefit", after his US counterpart Donald Trump announced Indonesian goods would face a 19% tariff instead of 32%. The months-long negotiations come at a cost.
Indonesia also has agreed to purchase billions in U.S. energy, agriculture products and airplanes, Trump said July 15 in a social media post.
