Coming off one of their most exciting wins of the season Saturday afternoon in Detroit, the Minnesota Wild are officially in the stretch drive with the March 7 trade deadline right around the corner and 25 games left in their season — 15 of which come at home.

Kirill Kaprizov, arguably the team's best player, suffered a lower-body injury that required surgery in late January and while he was initially expected to miss around a month, that timeline has changed.

The Minnesota Wild revealed some updated injury news regarding one of their star players. Wild General Manager Bill Guerin gave an updated on the timeline of the Kirill Kaprizov injury.

Eriksson Ek, 28, has scored nine goals and 24 points in 42 games. He has missed 15 games this season due to four previous injuries.

ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Wild placed center Joel Eriksson Ek on the Injured Reserve list, per the NHL Media Site. The center just returned from the 4 Nations Face-Off and played against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

Center Joel Eriksson Ek, one of the team's best forwards, suffered a serious injury in practice on Monday, according to The Athletic 's Michael Russo. He's been placed on injured reserve, which means he has to miss at least the next four games, but Russo says he hears the absence is going to be "a lot longer" than that.
