The Cuauhtémoc remains docked off Pier 37 as work crews shore up the ship’s three splintered masts. The ship is expected to be taken to a nearby salvage yard where a full investigation can be held.

Two crew members aboard a Mexican Navy sailing ship died on Saturday night when the vessel drifted into the underside of the Brooklyn Bridge, smashing its masts and rigging.

The training vessel Cuauhtemoc could be seen approaching the iconic bridge over the East River, stern-first, before two of its masts hit the bridge.
