PLACER COUNTY, Calif. (WKRC) - Former Major League Baseball pitcher Danny Serafini has been found guilty of first-degree murder and attempted murder of his in-laws, Robert Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood, a Placer County jury determined on Monday. The verdict was confirmed by a news release from the Placer County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors told the jury that Serafini snuck into his in-laws’ house while his wife and their two children were spending time with her parents on the lake and he waited four hours for his family
On June 5, 2021, Placer County deputies responded to a 911 call at a home in North Lake Tahoe. Spohr, 70, was found dead from a single gunshot wound. Wood, 68, had been shot in the head but survived.
