NASCAR Weekend at Sonoma Raceway is under way, an event local racing fans have been waiting all year for. The racing kicked off Friday with The General Tire 200, featuring up-and-coming drivers, and the Historic Trans Am Race, spotlighting restored race cars from decades past.

The NASCAR Cup Series will begin its lone visit to California this year by turning laps Saturday at Sonoma Raceway. An hourlong practice will begin at 1:30 p.m. ET on the 11-turn, 1.99-mile road course, followed by qualifying for Sunday’s 110-lap race.

Sonoma Raceway will play host to its 36th Cup Series race Sunday — but it's first in July. This is the latest in the calendar that NASCAR has visited the 11-turn, 1.99-mile road course of San Francisco. The previous 35 races were primarily held in June (from 1993-97, the race was run in May).

The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Sonoma will be broadcast nationally on the CW Network. Streaming options for the race include FUBO in limited markets nationwide, which offers a free trial to potential subscribers.
