Steelers HC Mike Tomlin addressed the injury status of TE Jonnu Smith after the Pro Bowler was unexpectedly held out of team periods at training camp.

First, it was coach Mike Tomlin who downplayed the idea that newest Pittsburgh Steelers offensive acquisition Jonnu Smith was entering a “two dogs, one bone” situation for TE1 duties against incumbent Pat Freiermuth.

Former Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith isn’t having a great start with his new team. Smith reportedly started the first day of Steelers training camp on Thursday in his uniform during workouts, but by the end of it, he was in street clothes and didn’t participate in the team period.
