Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala is set to face Spain’s Cristina Bucșa in the second round of the 2025 US Open. Bucșa, the 27-year-old world's no. 95, secured her spot in the second round after beating out American Claire Liu.

Bucsa, who like Eala reached a high of 56th in the WTA rankings before settling at No. 95, stormed into the second round after crushing American Claire Liu, 6-2, 6-1, in just an hour and 28 minutes early Tuesday morning (Manila time). On the other hand, it took everything from Eala to march on.
