Netflix's marketing for Happy Gilmore 2 has shown a huge improvement in their strategy for advertising their movies, by treating it like a big summer

Months before the first trailer of the sequel dropped, Happy Gilmore 2's marketing stood on business, having the film's star, Christopher McDonald, appear in character as the cocky golfer Shooter McGavin at the WM Phoenix Open golf tournament.

The sequel movie sees Happy and Virgina have four boys who are known as Wayne, Gordie, Bobby and Terry. As it's a film all about golf, it would be remiss if it didn't feature one or two professional golfers, but rather than just a few, Happy Gilmore 2 had a whole host of golfers take their cameo moment in the film.

Happy Gilmore 2 was released on Friday and Rory McIlroy was taken down a peg by Ireland's WWE superstar Becky Lynch. The cult movie sequel hit Netflix on Friday after months of hype on the back of the 1996 comedy classic starring Adam Sandler as an unorthodox and aggressive hockey star turned golfer.
