Beta Technologies became the first U.S. company to land an all-electric aircraft at an airport in the New York-New Jersey region, the company and port authorities said in Tuesday.

History was made Tuesday at JFK Airport as an all-electric aircraft made a successful runway landing for the first time.

A construction project on one of Newark Liberty International airport’s three main runways wrapped up nearly two weeks early, so the Federal Aviation Administration expects to begin easing flight limits next week.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it plans to soon boost the number of flights at Newark Liberty International Airport after a runway reopened on Monday nearly two weeks ahead of schedule. Acting FAA Administrator Chris Rocheleau said the runway is already being used for departing flights but it will take a few days to certify it for arrivals before the arrival rate can be increased from 28 to 34 flights per hour.

Newark Airport's runway construction project, along with air traffic control staffing​ and equipment outages​, led to problems that plagued passengers for weeks​.

“Hackers can install malware at USB ports (we’ve been told that’s called ‘juice/port jacking’),” the TSA wrote on Facebook. “So, when you’re at an airport do not plug your phone directly into a USB port. Bring your TSA-compliant power brick or battery pack and plug in there.”
