Keep your eyes on the skies from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and you might see an unusual cosmic convergence: two meteor showers, the Southern Delta Aquariids and the Alpha Capricornids, peaking in intensity on the same night.

The Southern Delta Aquariids are a meteor shower typically active for a few weeks starting from mid-July. The shower travels at a velocity of 25 miles per second, according to the American Meteor Society (AMS) and is best seen by those living further south.

Three meteor showers are teaming up to spray fireballs across the night sky over Washington state. The Alpha Capricornids and the Southern delta Aquariids both peak on Wednesday, July 30, while the popular Perseids remain active until late August, according to the American Meteor Society.
