The 49ers' wide receiver room is a mess. Injuries to key players like Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall have left the wideout corps without many options. That's why the 49ers could be the perfect trade partner for a team with its own wide receiver issues. The Washington Commanders are amid a tense contract dispute with wideout Terry McLaurin.

As for Aiyuk, Week 1 was always a long shot. It’ll be interesting to see if the 49ers keep a roster spot open and leave the door cracked for Aiyuk to return within the first four weeks. The other option would be to think big picture and place Aiyuk on the PUP list, where he’d return no sooner than Week 5.
