The second quarter was a challenging one for the stock market—and a winner for Charles Schwab. The wealth management company reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.14 and revenue of $5.9 billion, beating Wall Street estimates for earnings per share of $1.10 and revenue of $5.7 billion.

U.S. brokerage firm Charles Schwab said on Friday its profit rose nearly 60% in the second quarter, driven by robust trading activity and increased asset management fees.
