SHASTA COUNTY, CA - According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake struck close to Shingletown Saturday morning.

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the southern tip of South America, in the Drake Passage, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports, striking at the shallow depth of 10 kilometers. Chile has also issued a tsunami threat advisory.

A 3.2-magnitude earthquake was reported in Texas on Friday (August 22), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 8.7 kilometers (about 5.7 miles).
