Following Israel’s targeted strikes on Iran, Trump says “there is still time” for Iran to make a nuclear deal with the U.S.
The latest round of US-Iran nuclear talks scheduled for Sunday in Muscat will not take place, Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said on X on Saturday. Oman has been mediating the talks.
Sources familiar with the matter tell i24NEWS that Iran has approached Oman and Qatar to act as intermediaries with the United States, hoping to broker a ceasefire that would bring an end to Israel’s military offensive.
The sixth round of U.S.-Iran nuclear talks will be held on Sunday in Muscat, the Omani foreign minister said on Thursday, after U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated that Tehran would not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
Iran has asked Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman to urge President Trump to press Israel for a ceasefire, offering nuclear deal flexibility in return, amid frantic Gulf diplomacy to avert war.
