Everton has nine league titles, the last in 1987, less than half the 20 each of Liverpool and Manchester United, and in 2023 was threatened with relegation until the season's final day. It has long been its city's second-biggest team, Everton's blue outnumbered by Liverpool's red.

Rotherham United have signed Everton forward Martin Sherif on a season-long loan. The 19-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for the Toffees. Sherif scored 21 goals in 48 appearances in the U18 Premier League, and also has five goals in Premier League 2 for Everton U21s.

Lincoln City have signed striker Francis Okoronkwo on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Everton. The 20-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Toffees and spent last season on loan at Salford City, scoring four goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
