WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Seiya Suzuki went up to the plate looking for a pitch to hit early in the count. So, when A’s starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs threw him a first-pitch fastball over the middle of the plate, he jumped all over it, launching a no-doubter onto the roof of the Sutter Health Park clubhouse building beyond the left-field fence.
After acquiring Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros this winter, the Chicago Cubs actually look like they made the right deal. Tucker is off to a hot start at the plate in 2025, and he seems like a good fit with the team.
Cubs' top prospect Cam Smith is set to make his MLB debut this season, while the White Sox are off to a respectable start with a 2-2 record, and the Yankees have introduced torpedo bats, which are technically operating within the guidelines of the current rule book but are causing outrage among fans and MLB pitchers.
Tucker is one of baseball's best outfielders, a complete player in the prime of his career at 28 years old. He fell just short of joining the 30-home-run, 30-steal club in 2023, which led to a top-five AL MVP finish. Expect another top-five MVP finish this season, as Tucker is now in MLB's Senior Circuit.
