GLENDALE, Ariz. — The White Sox added veteran depth to their outfield mix, signing 33-year-old former Gold Glove center fielder Michael A. Taylor to a one-year, $1.95 million contract Tuesday, a source confirmed to the Sun-Times.

CHICAGO — Center fielder Michael A. Taylor and the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a $1.95 million, one-year contract, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement was pending a physical.

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.95-million contract with veteran outfielder Michael A. Taylor. To make room for Taylor on the 40-man roster, the White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Jesse Scholtens on the 60-day injured list.

So it will be back to the old foundation in 2025. The Sox like Taylor’s chances of getting back to his better form and his respected presence in the clubhouse, which is valued in a room full of young players. He also provides an insurance policy, of sorts, for center fielder Luis Robert Jr. and versatility in the outfield.

They're focused on building the farm system, but their big-league roster doesn't look better than last year's.
