Historic wildfires and heavy rainfall have resulted in significant ocean debris, prompting health and safety concerns for Malibu’s beaches.
On the morning of Jan. 7, just days into the new year, the Palisades Fire erupted and ravaged the Los Angeles County coast from Malibu to Santa Monica. Within 24 hours, two more fires —  Eaton and Hughes — ignited.
Metro bus line 134 connecting Malibu to Santa Monica, which was shut down due to the January wildfires, will have service partially restored starting Friday.
