Forecast confidence ticked upward slightly on Friday afternoon about the chances for snow in Alabama next week. If Alabama were to get any snow it would most likely be in the Tuesday-Wednesday timeframe, according to the weather service. There are a lot more “ifs” that forecasters will have to sort out.

Colder-than-normal temperatures are expected to remain in Alabama, with a system bringing bitterly cold air into the state next week. And the long-range forecasts from the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center are calling for the pattern of below-normal conditions to remain in place until Feb. 7, at least.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville issued a winter weather advisory Monday for all of north Alabama and is forecasting cold temperatures through the week with the possibility of snow
