The center is part of a $15.7 million multi-cultural and recreation complex near Mission San Jose.

Visitors to the World Heritage Center will learn about the history of the Spanish Missions and the inhabitants of the land around them, from those who first encountered the Spanish to those who lived and worked in the Missions to the present.

The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication of the World Heritage Center veranda, a legacy gift from the Tricentennial Celebration Commission to the people
