Tropical Storm Erin -- which is forecast to strengthen into the first hurricane of the Atlantic season by Saturday morning -- won't have a direct impact on the U.S., but it will bring dangerous rip currents to the East Coast.

Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to strengthen into a major hurricane in the coming days. While AccuWeather maintains that the storm will curve back out into the Atlantic Ocean, the potential remains for a direct impact on the East Coast.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) said that maximum sustained winds within Tropical Storm Dexter have dropped to about 40 mph with some higher gusts.
