Microsoft continues to consolidate its mobile app offering, retiring Lens while pushing more users to Copilot for their document scanning needs.

Microsoft will retire its popular Lens document-scanning app from September 15, directing users to Microsoft 365 Copilot, which lacks several beloved Lens features.

Microsoft Lens was that type of app: a mobile document scanner that turned paper documents, business cards, receipts, and anything else into easily readable digital files. Now that app is being discontinued, Microsoft says, as it directs its users to its Copilot AI chat app instead.
