President Trump and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing announced a $100 billion company investment in Phoenix. The deal could have broad significance.

Taiwan's cabinet spokesperson said on Tuesday that the government will take into account TSMC's development and Taiwan's position in the global chips industry when reviewing the chip foundry's investment plans in the United States.

It was not immediately clear whether the $100 billion investment was in addition to the company’s previously announced investments of $65 billion in factories in Arizona.
