Inheriting a fortune from her father, publishing magnate Walter H. Annenberg, she steered a family foundation that shaped arts and culture in Los Angeles.

Philanthropist Wallis Annenberg supported several causes, including the arts, science, education and animal welfare.

Wallis Annenberg, who had previously lost the custody of her four children because of accusations of excessive alcohol use among other allegations levied by her husband, passed away on Monday.
