Flash flooding caused by torrential rains on Saturday turned deadly in northern West Virginia. Officials said up to 4 inches of rain fell within about half an hour.

As much as 4 inches (10 centimeters) of rain fell in parts of Wheeling and Ohio County within 40 minutes. Among the six dead was a 3-year-old child, the governor said.
