Demonstrators hoped to reignite the conversation about racial justice and police accountability after the 2020 murder of Floyd by former officer Derek Chauvin.

Portlanders gathered downtown for the "We Are the Bridge Rally and March" to honor Floyd and the Black community in the city.

Peter Cahill, 66, oversaw the proceedings against Chauvin in 2021 where jurors spent three weeks listening to testimony about the day Floyd died on May 25, 2020 .
