New Glenn is the flagship reusable rocket design for Blue Origin, Amazon-owner Jeff Bezos’ launch-vehicle initiative that looks to rival SpaceX in the burgeoning commercial space industry.
The two-stage New Glenn will stand more than 320 feet (98 meters) tall, with the capability to haul nearly 100,000 pounds (45 metric tons) of payload into low-Earth orbit, according to Blue Origin.
"New Glenn is capable of turning around from one flight to the next in just over two weeks," Henderson said. "And each of those first stages is built to fly 25 times.
If Blue Origin is unable to launch New Glenn on Friday, the company could potentially try again through Jan. 12, depending on the nature of the delay and available time to address it.
The roughly 320-foot (98-meter) New Glenn is not only the first Blue Origin rocket designed to be capable of hauling satellites to space, it’s also among the most powerful in the world.
