BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Louisiana legislature has advanced a bill that will add dozens of services to be subject to sales tax. Lawmakers showed some concerns about what the true cost to businesses and citizens will be.

Louisiana lawmakers have advanced House Bill 9, aiming to generate $400 million by taxing 41 new services, including digital streaming, lawn care, and pet grooming.

It’s kind of like a tax swap–if you want to call it that, although it’s not exactly an even one,” Barry Erwin, president and CEO of the Council for a Better Louisiana said.
