The Graham Hoffman Act comes in the wake of assailants killing several first responders in the line of duty this year.
New bipartisan bill would make it a federal crime to assault or kill first responders. It's named after slain Kansas City firefighter-paramedic Graham Hoffman.
The bill calls for anyone who is convicted of knowingly assaulting and seriously injuring a working first responder to face up to 10 years in prison.
