Virginia McCaskey, who inherited the Chicago Bears from her father, George Halas, but avoided the spotlight during four-plus decades as principal owner, has died.

On Friday night, ahead of their game against the Nashville Predators at United Center, the Chicago Blackhawks honored McCaskey with a moment of silence. Public address announcer Gene Honda did a nice job expressing the organization's thoughts and condolences to the McCaskey/Halas family.
