The movie version of Broadway’s beloved musical Wicked has been a long time coming since the show’s opening in 2003, but it is finally here — and quite frankly, not only does it soar cinematically, it exceeds all expectations.

Released on November 22, Wicked — an adaptation of the Broadway musical based on Gregory Maguire 's 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West — stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. According to reports, Erivo only received a salary of $1million for the lead role.

Ariana Grande requested Bowen Yang play Pfannee. When Yang said he was not allowed to shoot a movie during a Saturday Night Live (1975) season, Grande personally called Lorne Michaels to beg. They eventually worked out a schedule which required Yang to fly in and out of the country once a week.
